Born in Dublin and took art classes at The Slade in London after he sustained an injury during WW2.
He had a preference for painting in oils and secured his reputation with his pictures of wildfowl.
Became President of the Wildfowlers Association between 1953-1956, .
He exhibited in the 1950's in Dublin at Victor Waddington Galleries, the Belfast museum and later through Rowland Ward and other leading galleries.
