Roland Green

1890-1872

English bird artist born Rainham, Kent. He remained a bachelor. He was educated in Rochester and the Regent Street Polytechnic, and then specialised in bird and mammal painting, with annual one-man shows of paintings and separately published etchings at Ackermann Galleries.

Among his etchings were snipe, Canada geese, mallard and kingfishers. He lectured on bird watching and how to draw birds, with a particular interest in birds in flight. He painted bird studies in watercolours, also large frescoes in oil.
